I created this section at the request of a new member. Please post a short introduction of yourself here and I encourage other members to welcome newcomers to the site as well.

I'll start, with saying that I am Kay, the owner of AerodromeRC. I designed most of the models at AerodromeRC and I operate this forum and shopping cart.  The forum is intended as a place for AerodromeRC customers to share information and to ask questions about modeling. In it's few years, this forum has become a place where very high quality modelers share their builds and skills in an environment that is diverse and pleasant. I am delighted to host it and hope you all enjoy it as well.

Looks like I'll take my turn.

I am Ian Easton. I have been building and flying models for 35+ years. I've built all sorts of models from free flight gilders, through rubber power models, to RC scale ,vintage, and giant models.  My favourite is scale models, free flight and RC.  I have been very fortunate in that Kay has allowed me to share some of my designs which she turned into kits and also accepted some of my writing for her journals. It makes for an added bonus in this wonderful hobby.

I am Thomas (40) and I live in the north-west region of Germany. I have been making and flying model planes for roughly 30 years, too. (Can't tell when it started - I know for sure that I always asked my mum to bring balsawood from town before I was able to go there by bike myself) My main interest is focussed on early aviation, its building techniques and early aerodynamics - a knowledge that will surely be taken into account in the future with modern planes. (That's why you might not find proper lozenge or guns on my planes) I was very happy to discover Kay's Kits because there is nothing comparable on the market over here. I develop and mill kits for beginners to get the youngsters back into building - but that's a difficult task as there are other - at first sight more tempting seductions for the kids. I am very glad that it is possible to share experience in this excellent forum. As modelling is sadly disappearing among the younger generation it is quite encouraging to get and give feedback from people who share my interests. The atmosphere in this forum is really friendly and subject focused - its really worth the time to write and post comments!

Hello Everybody! I am Frank Jaerschky, a 45 year old who has been modelling R/C for 30 years. My main interest has always been WW1 scale, and also Canadian designed and built aircraft. I am an Air Traffic Controller in the Canadian Air Force, and as such I am lucky enough to work with aircraft all day and get paid for it. I am currently stationed in beautiful Comox, British Columbia. Being in the Air Force means we move around a lot, but I am hoping to stay here for a long, long time. I have been fortunate enough to have built four prototype models for Kay and Aerodrome R/C, and all have been thoroughly enjoyable. Newcomers - don't be afraid of posting here and asking questions. There is a wealth of knowledge here that everybody likes to share, and we all continue to learn!

Hi all,

I am Peter Weichel (age 45), working as project manager and enjoying the RC flying hobby. I am living in Denmark and has been flying control line models in the 1980´s but now i am into RC flying since three years.

I like to build scale models from balsa/ply not just ARF but also kits like Aerodrome or from ground up.

I fly: Piper Cup J3, Middle Stick, FunJet, Sopwith S.E.5.a, FW190A wings and some indoor models. Looking forward to finishing my Sopwith Camel from AerodromeRC.

HI

I'm Pat Konkle(57) just retired on Dec 18th after 30 yrs of driving a city Bus ( Mississauga Ont Canada).I have been building models of all kinds for 45+ yrs, mainley Steam Locomotives.
When I was younger I was involved with RC Aircraft, but with 2 small children the RC gear was a bit to much, so I jumper into model railroadong.  Now MUCH older , and hopefully wiser I have gotten back into modeling WW1 aircraft
I have really enjoyed building Aerodromes Sopwith Pup and have the 50" Sopwith Camel waiting on the shelf
This is a great site with a wealth of information and a bunch of fantastic modelers.

                                                Thanks Pat

Hi

I'm Tony Dorans 41 and work as a Digital Printing Supervisor at a large Swedish based printers in the UK. I started building indoor gliders for a school competition and the bug took off from there. I stopped building after leaving school and only restarted a few years ago but I regret not starting sooner! I have two of Kays models hanging from the ceiling awaiting their maiden flights but as an RC newbie I'm trying to get some practice with a mini supercub.  I also have a Polikarpov I16 Mosca ready for a maiden which I hope to fly in the next couple of weeks! and I'm presently building a Spitfire Mk1. My next build is gonna be another from one of Kays collections but my decision changes from week to week. SE5, Jenny or Albatros then again could be one of the new ones in the pipeline!

Hi all, I’m Jonathan Rider, a 46 year old father of two boys living about 50 miles due West of Boston in beautiful central Massachusetts. I am a Vice President and CIO of a $4Billion dollar Construction management firm called Gilbane. We built the Air and Space museum, WWII Memorial and over 1000 other key projects in the US – From the Hancock building in Boston to UCLA Biomed building in CA.

I began building in the 70’s and was the New England IPMS/USA champion for plastic models, and built RC Planes throughout my life. I went in the military and was a UH-1H Instructor pilot with the 3rd Rangers. After leaving the military, I flew Jet Rangers and A-Stars for a New England helicopter company and flew for movies such as “Witches of Eastwick” and “The Firm”, forecasted weather for AOL, NY Times and other news media outlets, and owned two web development companies.

I am very proud to be working with Kay and the team here and love working on these vintage WW1 planes...

Hi,

I am Henk Goosen, 54 years young, father of two kids and grandfather of a 2 year old grandson. I am a clockmaker by trade.
I have been in the model airplane hobby since I was 15 years, but never build a ww1 model. At the moment I am finishing a electric glider. After finishing the glider I like to build a bi planelike a Sopwith Pup or..... Looking for a plane that can handle a nice breeze because in the Netherlands it is always windy.

Howdy,
I'm Jim Cullum from Livermore, CA & closing on 45 yrs. I'm retired Air Force (B-52G Crew Chief)/Air Force Reserve (Air Transportation), had several career changes, a degree in Audio/Video Digital media, & I'm currently working as a Security Officer @ Camp Parks.

My aviation interests span the course of flight. My Uncle's & Father built & flew free flights & my Uncle's owned & flew a Fairchild 24 C8C (I've got plans on order for a 1/10th scale). I have many subjects in mind that I'd like to build & fly including N-17, Sop Camel, Fok Dr. I, Navion, Bonanza, Beech Model 18, and FW-190.

I started in RC when I was 18, just before going in the AF. I'd dabbled in it during my first marriage and the raising my daughter took precedent over building (not to mention funds). I'm back at it after that hiatus with my D Va being the second model after the 25 year break and a Great Planes Slow Poke. I've been enjoying Kay's kit immensely & working through the challenges I've given myself in detailing it. I have learned quite a lot from the builders here & continue to enjoy their camaraderie.

Hello all-

I'm a 31 year old father of one lovely young daughter.  I'm an architect in Little Rock, AR and that's where my love of building models has taken me.  I've always enjoyed building models, but I'm still relatively new to R/C modeling, I've only been in it for about 3 years.  I started off in small micros and indoor stuff, but I always had scale subjects.  I still enjoy micros, but it's also nice to see the balsa works of art at a bit larger scales.  I've always been fascinated with WWI machines and the tech of the time.

I spend most of my time browsing around the scale forum on RCGroups and I have a few build logs there.  I've been drooling over several of the Aerodrome kits for some time, so I thought I'd create an account here and read up on them.  Maybe someday I'll get around to building one!

Howdy y'all. New to this vintage scale r/c thing...have the fuse and tailplanes assembled for Peter Rake's 50" Ponnier. I have very little experience in r/c building (this being my first - not even ARFs), but everything is coming together nicely. Started my spoke wheel kit a few days ago and have Aerodrome R/C's Oberersul dummy engine on the way. This stuff is super addictive!!! As of this writing I have nothing really to give as far as advice, but I was a certified gunsmith specialising in military weapons for several years. So, if you have any weapons questions I have some of the best firearms resources this side of the Mason-Dixon line  Wink. Look forward to reading some of these posts...and don't be shy, I'd appreciate and building tips or advice you veterans have to offer.

Welcome to all who posted here! There is a misunderstanding about the new board. What would be more effective is that introductions are posted in new threads, not this one. This way we can respond individually and welcome you properly.
